[Solved] Framerate toggle capped to display refresh rate
#1
Hello,

I'm playing on 1.4.0, and if I hit the framerate toggle button,  the game doesn't go past rendering my refresh rate on my display. I think it's something to do with my system but I can't figure out what. If I put PCSX2 on my 144 hz display, pressing the toggle will speed it up to that exactly. Put it on my 60 hz displays, it won't go past 60 fps when I tap the toggle.

I've turned off vsync in nvidia's control panel for global settings, made a PCSX2 profile in nvidia's panel and turned vsync off. Additionally, if it is relevant, the 144 hz display has g-sync.

And an entirely off topic question, do you generally recommend using the development releases like we do over at Dolphin? Or is your release cycle not bad like ours? >_>

EDIT: Solved. My drivers were being stupid and ignoring my settings for some reason. I deleted the profile, recreated it, and rebooted.

did you enable Vsync in pcsx2 itself?

Unless there's some vsync option in PCSX2 that isn't in those two screenshots I linked, I disabled it in my drivers.

Can't seem to do anything about that option, but it appears to be disabled.

Hmm, solved it. I deleted my nvidia profile, recreated it, forced off vsync again, and rebooted.

Works now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The VSync option in PCSX2 is greyed out by default. If you uncheck the "Preset" checkbox in the lower left corner then you will be able to check the check box next to VSync.

In my experience, the VSync option in PCSX2 GS Windows Settings is more reliable than the VSync in NVidia control panel. If your computer is capable of running a game at full speed, then checking this VSync option in PCSX2 seems to provide additional stability of frame rate and game speed. Some games that are more graphically intensive though will slow down too much if you check this option. It really depends on the game you are running and your computer.
