Hi and thanks for viewing my post!
Sorry I'm new on here so apologies for asking something stupid but I was unable to find any similar query.
I'm trying to run Gran Turismo 4 [NTSC] on PCSX2 0.9.9.4942 and am completely unable to get anything other than a blank screen. I have had it function on previous versions like 0.9.7 or something with a patch (77e61c8a.pnach - maybe that's what did it), however it doesn't appear to make a difference when activated as a cheat on 0.9.9.4942. I just put in the Cheats folder and make sure "Enable Cheats" is checked, is that correct?
Anyway, I know many of you have had it working so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know. The main reason I want to use a recent version is for the support of 3 or more cores and would be more playable (I imagine).
Thanks! Please feel free to ask any questions!

from what i can see, all the patch was, was an mpeg skip patch, which should be on provided you have "automatic gamefixes" ticked. If that doesnt help, go in to emulation settings, then game fixes and enable them, ticking the "skip mpeg hack" box, then rerun.

Hi and thanks for your quick reply!
It may not be related to that patch after all, good advice; I did try both of the things you suggested but unfortunately, the game still starts on a black, frozen screen. In fact, I have to use Device Manager to force PCSX2 to close...

I think I know what the problem is, but just to confirm it, please run the game until the freezing point and post here the whole contents of the console log.

Make sure the ISO is proper. Remake the Iso using Imgburn. Did you try the Official PCSX2 0.9.8.

Looks like it isn't able to find the second layer of the disk. Try using a different CDVD plugin.

Yeah as I thought. The internal ISO reader has problems reading some dual layer images. Select Linuz ISO as CDVD plugin, set the CDVD radial menu to "plugin" and configure it to run your image. It will then run fine.

Wow, fantastic! Sorry if that seemed obvious but I really had no idea about that, yes, setting the CDVD to plugin worked. Thank you very much!!

Just curious but is it true GT4 actually runs better than GT3 in pcsx2? I really love GT3.
