will there be a fix for Soul Calibur 3 vertical lines across the screen? They appear in all but native resolution, besides that game runs really well and looks really good in 1920x1080p.

Try a 1200x1200 or 1020x1020 or 1070x1070 or... other custom resolutions.

it worked 1200x1200, but what causes the lines? why do they appear in standard widescreen resolutions, the game even supports widescreen.

You're using a much larger resolution than supported by the PS2 and the game hates it, other games get glitches using larger resolutions too just usually not as notorious. If you check the "native" you usually don't get any of those glitches, it's just by chance some custom resolutions work for some glitches like this one but not for others (glitches on text in other games like FFX).

okay thanks, i did notice in Final Fantasy's that the higher i set internal resolution the more distorted menus textures looked.

Is there an internal resolution around 2000 pixels that will get rid of the lines? I like how the game looks with an internal resolution that is much higher than the resolution my screen is set at, with a few exceptions. (It doesn't radically impact performance.) I'm running at 1280x1024, full screen. But I can't find a really high resolution that doesn't have the lines.

We haven't found any, so i guess all you can do is trial and error

the highest i found is 1200x1200, my native screen resolution is 1920x1080 so i use 1200x1080 to avoid lines, game looks pretty decent at that resolution but display is somehow darker than it should be if i switch to software mode during gameplay i can see the difference between the two, custom res is somehow darker/fogged up but do to higher res still looks better than native, but not perfect like other games i play at 1080p

Wrong, you can use different kinds of height resolutions, it's the width that makes a difference (you can use 1200x3072 or 1200x512 without the lines for example).
Quote: Do they have some kind of relationship to the native PS2 resolution? What is the native PS2 resolution by the way?
It's the game's native resolution that matters, and that varies from game to game.
