Sound and Graphical Glitches When Previously None
#1
Hi everyone, happy new year.

I've recently had some time to play around with PCSX2 again over Christmas after previously using it quite a bit before my child was born early in 2019. Wheras previously games had run without a hitch, I now seem to be experiencing a lot of sound and graphical issues, low frame rates etc, despite my PC being of good enough standard to previously run most games at 3x/4x resolution.

For tests I've been mainly using Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology and Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest seems to run well, but the other two vary. Outrun runs fine in menus but experiences graphical and sound glitches during gameplay, whilst Street Fighter is a mess. Again the menus are fine, but as soon as I choose of one the games in the package the framerate goes off the cliff and the graphics completely glitch out. I've tried every graphical plugin variant and none seem any better or worse.

I've updated the drives for my graphics card, checked everything is up to date and redumped my PS2 bios, but i'm at a bit of loss what I can do next to fix this. I've posted my logs below, if anyone can shed any light i'd be grateful.

For info I have a GTX 1060 Graphics Card.

Thank you.

You seem to be using the latest beta
Maybe something went wrong with it.
Just for a test try something few months older

You shouldn't be having any problems on almost any game on that pc

Thanks for replying; my thoughts exactly regarding the PC.

I should've said I downloaded the stable version too and had the same issues, so am pretty confused what to try next.

Yep, same problem, everything slows to a crawl.

Can you go back to the 1.5 build and post your GSdx settings? You can access them by going to Config -> GS -> Plugin Settings

By "slows to a crawl",what speed do you get...is it 40 or lower

You answer with yes on two questions but I would assume you mean that the max speed is 40fps

I thought this is laptops specific settings but I guess not.
It's little difficult to tell you what to do the normal way so just use this tool(I prefer it over than using the nvidia control panel)

https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfile...r/releases

Run it and in profiles type pcsx2 and select it
Go all the way down and somewhere at the bottom you will find "Whisper Mode"...set it to 0x00000000 and click on the Apply button

Now pcsx2 will run normally again(above 40fps)...you have to restart pcsx2 for the option to take effect

This is feature mainly for laptops to reduce the heat by lowering the fps but it doesn't work well with emulators like pcsx2\epsxe that need above 40fps to run at full speed

If you want to globally disable that option(because the default one that is applied to all not known games\programs by nvidia is 40fps),click on the Home button and set 0 to Whisper Mode

Thanks for your reply, looks like some good news and bad news.

Firstly I've had some time to do some digging on Street Fighter Alpha and this looks like a seperate issue. Some people reported exactly the same problem on this forum on 2009 with this game. Over a long thread someone suggested switching to software mode, then using 1 rendering thread - this seems to fix it.

The bad news is vsub's suggestion hasn't made any difference on Outrun, still running under 40fps and laggy. Everything runs at normal speed in menus, but as soon as the gameplay starts it falls off a cliff.

In terms of my GSDX settings, I set everything back to default, so happy to be instructed if there's anything I should be doing.

Just to say I visited r/pcsx2 earlier and noted that another user with a decent spec PC is having similar issues. His spec is Specs: Intel Core i5-4460 @ 3.20ghz Nvidia GeForce 960GTX 16gb ram Windows 7... am beginning to wonder if this is an Nvidia issue.
