Is there a special configuration for this game which makes it much more "fluid"?

Because I have some nasty audio / input lags (alhtough running @ constant 60fps) and some weird graphic glitches (the rendered background graphis are tiled).

Really would like to try it out since Part 2 (on Steam) was pretty awesome.

Background runs fine with software renderer in GSdx.
Don't know what audio/input lags you mean, PCSX2 settings? Plugin settings? Any video showing your problem perhaps?

Also be careful of speedhacks (VU cycle steal especially and possibley EE sync hacks as well) as those speed hacks make the emulated PS2 run slower than it actually is.
