Add the PAL version to the bug report since I tested it.SLES 54723 , CRC C881B25

I'll do some testing as well to see If I can come up with a workaround , maybe a memory card save will work.

What's interesting is that the random freezing during level 1 seems to be related to drops in framerates as well. If I retain a stable FPS above 40ish, it's fine, but once it dips too far the sound will stutter up and game will freeze. It seems to be a VERY unstable game for PCSX2.

Also, are you sure that that CRC is correct? It seems to be missing a number/letter.

Hello,i just saw that the post was updated,and i've been testing my own copy of Spider-man 3 (PAL)

Surfing on the internet,i've found the "fix" to play the first level without freezing and costant 50 FPS
PCSX2 Version 1.4.0
Every setting is default except for Speedhacks EE cycle steal set to 1,EE Cyclerate set to -1 and SPU2-X plugin has the "async mix" option instead of Timestretch.
This prevents the game from freezing in the first seconds of gameplay.
Just enabling Async mix will cause the game to freeze in the next area (burning office after a hole in the wall is blown)
However,it will still freeze after the intro movie.

So the cause of the freezing of the intro movie could be Memory Cards?

i've been noticing that the audio skips during explosions and dialogue when music begins to play

Don't expect a fix on this within a just a few days. They'll have to analyze the underlying exact cause first. And there's quite a few things wrong with this game, so expect it to be a while. Please stick to the bug report topic on this matter for further updates / issue updates. (And also if you have some of your own findings to add).

No update, we aren't even actively looking at it, don't expect an update for a while, by a while I mean months/years, not days/weeks.

Yeah, it's impossible to look into the issue if no one has the game. As I said earlier, block dump of the issue might help.

The bug is most likely on the counters side (or) maybe even on the audio plugin (SPU2-X). (possibly?)

By enabling all in the log, i got this, i don't know if it might be useful, i hope it will.

The log stopped updating once getting to the loading screen, so these are the last things it was reported before locking up.

This is another one, with SPU2-X Debug mode enabled.

Resuming got this line
* SPU2 > Underrun compensation (3 packets buffered)

Hope it helps in finding the solution
