Star Ocean 3(J) runs extremely slow on my computer
#1
A mere 1.7FPS@CPU 99% on this configuration
[Image: so3p.jpg]

PCSX2 r1888 (0.9.6 official gives me disc read error so...)
GSdx SSE 4.1 all default expect native resoltion and bob tff is checked
Others plugins are PCSX2 default and at their default option
Tri-ace fix checked

Event Screen it ok at 80-100% of run machine speed but after I have first controll of the character, it drops to 1.7FPS...

Intel Core i3 2.93GHz
Intel GMA HD (On board GPU, or precisely on die)
2GB RM on Windows XP SP3

I tried Dragon Quest 8 and Final Fantasy 10 on this computer and both run fine with the CPU overclocked to 3.7GHz@native resolution...

What is wrong? It is just that Intel Graphics Driver sucks?
Ridge Racer 5 has this problem also...

Yes the graphics card sucks big time. You didn't mention which GSdx you use, the newer ones have large speed ups for this game. Get the latest plugin pack, December 30 from here and use that GSdx: http://pcsx2.net/downloads.php?p=publicbeta

I was using version 1873 but the version 2424 in your link give me the same result. Thanks anway

Does this mean that I have to buy a discrete graphics card just for emulation? (PCSX2, Dolphin...)
As I dont play computer games, I am looking for a budget cart that is around US 80-100 range. Is a Geforce 210 or 220 enough to run games correctly at navtive resolution?

Yeah a 220 should be enough at native for *most* games. Although coupled with that very nice i3 processor, I'd say go for something better, at least a 250 class card, all that processor speed is going to waste. One of these should cost no more than 100 euro, don't know if you can find it for 100$
BTW setting GSdx to software renderer should give you way more FPS, especially if you set 3 sw rendering threads.

As Bositman suggested me, get a 9800 GT you should find it for that price.
Works like wonder

Uh, I can clearly see the stencil shadows there. Use a newer version of GSdx for a huge speedup (it removes that shadow).

Also: Congratulations, you're the first confirmation that the new on-die gpus work with GSdx Smile

Thanks everyone, I will buy a 9800GT than...

P.S software mode @320x240 give me 26FPS at the same spot...Laugh

Try using GSdx 0.1.7 instead, if it's the same issue you should get a speed up with Hardware mode.

Technically, that's on-package, not on-die. Anyhow, how about going for a Palit GTS 250 512MB GDDR3 graphics card? Found one on Newegg for $105 w/free shipping. From what I recall, it's a 9800GTX rebadge so it should work nicer than a 9800GT.

Edit:
Just saw a Sparkle GTS 250 1GB GDDR3 for $105 from Newegg (24-hour special, while supplies last).
