Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
#41
Hi, I read that PCSX2 performance is more CPU dependent than GPU dependent. How GPU dependent is the performance? I'm considering getting a new notebook soon and I'm wondering whether to get a low end (Radeon HD 3470 / GeForce 9300M GS) video card or a mid range (Radeon HD 3670 / GeForce 9600M GT) video card. Do I need a mid range card to have decent (50-60fps) performance or will it run fine on the low end card?

Thanks for your help.

Depends on the game.Usually an 9600GT is enough for most but that's a desktop pc card so the laptop counterpart would be somehow slower. But in general, get the fastest processor your money can buy and a mid range gfx card

Hi,

I've ordered a new high end laptop, and was wondering what speeds I can expect from PCSX2, the specs are:

Quad-core Q9650 3.06GHz 12MB Cache
SLI 2x NVidia 9800M GTX 1GB DDR3 VRAM
4GB DDR2 800Mhz

Games like FF10, 10-2, 12, Disgaea are listed as playable, what sort of frame rates can I expect?

Cheers Tongue

At 60fps or above with a right setting on pcsx2 and plugins.
Notebook ASUS A43TA|CPU AMD Llano APU A6-3400m Triple core (1 core disable) OC to 2.6+Ghz|GPU CF|HD 6520 400Mhz/667Mhz iGPU|HD6650M OC 780Mhz/985Mhz dGPU|RAM 8GB DDR3 1333|Windows 7 Ultimate Sp.1 x64 bit.

Yes it can but very slow. First your cpu is not good enough, try with OC. that can help you. Second you have lack of ram, add more ram minimal 2giga (since ram is very cheap now) or 4giga for better and play pcsx2 with vista ultimate 32/64bit sp.1. Thrid i didnt see your grapich card, so i assume you didnt have, please buy grapich card with minimal 8600gt for nvidia or HD4670 for ATI. Try pcsx2 0.95 or playground.

Just a quick query..

While playing FFX I noticed that it played... well, Slowly. Not laggy, not choppy, just.. sluggish if you will.

Tried various combinations of Graphics plugins while replaying the intro and trying to match it along a youtube vid of the real thing, of course it never playing in synch with the youtube vid, always falling behind. At first I pegged it down to my computer not being top-of-the-line-superb, but then noticed this in the FAQ's (in big bold lettering Tongue)

Quote:Can I 'Play' Games?

If by 'playing' a game, you mean: at full speed with sound, perfect graphics, etc, then NO. Come back next year.

And though it is 'next year' (this was posted in 2008) I doubt this 'issue' has been 'fixed'.

'Spose what I'm getting at is, is it possible to run it at normal speeds?
