Stuck on loading screen? Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
#1
Hey this is actually my first time using a PS2 Emulator, i got it up and running just fine and was very happy Smile everything was working perfectly until im playing crash bandicoot wrath of cortex, once i get to the 2nd world and the last level on that world i just get stuck on the loading screen, when i go to load the level it just keeps loading and loading ive waited 10 mins atleast. all other levels load within a few seconds, anyone know what the problem might be? i cant continue the game =[ i appreciate any help

EDIT:
I am playing from an iso
my version of PCSX2 is 1.2.1
the only settings i changed were some of the video settings (gs plugin or something) i changed it from the default directx 9(hardware) to direct x 11(hardware) and enabled FXAA, enabled FX shader, allowed 8bit textures and edge anti aliasing enabled,
everything else is default

my system specs: gtx 560ti, 4gb ram, i7 2700k ive been running it so far no lag at all 60fps

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

have you tried software mode instead of hardware? (Can be de-/activated by pressing F9 - but I don't really it will solve our problem)
Can you please provide the emulog.txt after it freezes (located in my documents/pcsx2/logs or in the program directory)?

I think you can play around with clamp and rounding modes but in the compatibility list it is listed as playable without changing that...

I would guess it is related to your iso...

If you are loading from savestates you should not, try loading from the memory card.

Every time you load a savestate any bug in memory gets reloaded, load from the memory card instead Smile .

I also have this game but i have not progressed thus far, and doing so will take me a while. Can you attach the save file? I don't mean the savestate. If you can't, the memory card will do, i will be able to verify whether it's something that really got broken (since the game really did play flawlessly the last time i went through it and the only issue was the fog) or if it's simply something on your end.

thanks for replying, i tryed running it in direct x9 software and 11 software still had the same problem. The loading screen doesn't actually freeze its just in a continuous loop that never stops

ive only been using save states im not sure how the memory card quite works on this, first time using so im kinda newb at it

is the memory card the normal way you save in the game, like going to start then save?

how do i load from the memory card?

EDIT: i loaded up my usual save state and went to the menu and and saved it the normal way then loaded it still was stuck on loading screen

Yeah your savestate doesn't even complete loading, it sticks loading the SPU2 settings, which means you've probably changed plugin since you last saved it or your savestate is corrupt.

It's best not to rely on savestates, use them only in extreme circumstances if you can, try to rely on the ingame saves.

yes, or load your last ingame save at very least. You should rely on this more than savestates.
