Sudden FPS drop during goal celebration

Hi,

I'm using PCSX2 1.6 and i have an annoying problem. I run the games (Pro Evolution Soccer games) very well, 60FPS, 8x Native resolution 99% of the time, but sadly there are still some sudden FPS drop only during goal celebration, when the camera zoom on the player. 

Before the goal celebration :

EE : between 40-50%
GS : between 10-20%
VU : between 10-20%

During the goal celebration :

EE : between 10-20%
GS : between 0-10%
VU : between 0-10%

I tried many things : disable intel speedstep, high performance mode, mtvu disabled, v-sync off and on, etc... The only thing fixing it is reducing internal resolution to 4x but i don't understand why because the ee and gs usage is low during these goal celebrations. Any ideas ?

I also have some flickering on players hair and the kit numbers, but i guess it's unfixable because i saw it in every pes emulated on pcsx2 videos on youtube

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

since PES 2019 never came out on PS2, what esxactly is this game you're trying to run ?
How is your GPU usage in task manager when your game is slowing down ?

because 8x seems quite harsh for a GTX 670
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

I'm playing PES 2008 currently, but it happens in every pes games on ps2.
I can't see on my task manager the gpu usage, but here is the GPU-Z gpu usage when the game is stuttering during the goal celebration:

You think 8x is too much ? It's weird because apart from these goal celebrations, i have no fps drops, always 60FPS.

WE/PES games from WE7/PES3 onwards has a depth of field (DOF) effect (Background blurs during close-ups, in your case: goal celebration) which probably putting too much strain to your GPU at 8x.

@jesalvein: He's not playing PES 2019, but PES 2008 which did come out on PS2 BTW

@OP : that 90°C on your glpunclearly shows it's struggling.

didn't know about that DOF thing with the PES series, but it sounds like a trustworthy explanation to me.

Thank your for your answers. So, i will reduce the internal resolution. Do you know also why is there some flickering on players hair and on kit numbers ? Is it fixable?

maybe on latest dev build and/or using ogl renderer

Software mode is the safest way, but you'll lose upscaling
