Hey guys..I am new to this forum but not to pcsx2.. ever since I've always wanted to play tekken 5 at least with a decent speed with my [email protected] ghz.. and after months of tweaking (and hoping), I am now playing tekken 5 with a humble 76-85 fps..yes it may look like it's too fast but its not, which i'l try to explain later why..
to start, this config is tested on a e2200@ 2.50 - 2.75 ghz..yes, because of pcsx2 i learned about OCing.. but to others you can play more with the vu skip..
used components:
-Pcsx2 r1221
-Gsdx9 r1285 ssse3
-zero spu2 r1214 0.4.6
-japan v02.00 (dumped bios) - a thread I accidentally bumped somewhere said that tekken 5 works best on this one..though I really dont see the difference but what the hell..
-and the rest is up to you
The configs:
Gsdx9 r1285 ssse3:
Zero spu2 r1214 0.4.6:

Pcsx2 r1221:
since rev 984, they have added "vu cycle stealing", a new speed hack intended to speedup 3d geometries and does the trick well..but what i noticed about these new revs was that, although I get a perfect 60 fps (cause I usually set vu skip to 60-58-1-1) its pretty damn slow.. then rev 1304 came out and vu skip wasn't there anymore.. so by experimentation (which we always do) I set the fps limit to 80-100 and forced the skip frames by using 9999 and the ingame fight went full speed ..what gets in the way now is the sound and cut scenes which goes to the set fps..
CPU

so basically this is the preferred cpu setting..music and cut scenes are not too fast and the ingame is almost perfect..but for others they could go 100..
speed hacks

to set vu cycle stealing to max could damage the game or cause missing geometry..
Advance

now this one is tricky..because those who tried tekken 5 with the advance setting shown above couldn't get to see the ingame fight..you just hear the sound, a nice fps, and lucky if you see the life bar..not unless you set the EE clamp mode to normal, you may now be able to see but gives you a slow fps in return..so what i did!!!!..... was to use background hack..
All credits to NinjaOptimus for his background patch..!! this does not only make you choose a permanent stage for all fights but it also lets you see the ingame with the EE clamp mode to none.. yeah......
so go through here

and download NinjaOptimus's pnach file and put it in the patches folder..
now you might as well change the values to your chosen stage before you put it in. To do that, just add .txt after the .pnach and edit the last value of this line "0000000C" with the corresponding value of the specific stage you want. ex: 00000002 = waterfall, 0000000F = final stage.
All stages are working although others have glitches and slowdowns..for me, the best are polar and final stage..though actually final stage 2 is fastest but unfortunately its not included in the pnach..
so if anyone is kind enough to give me the codes for final stage 2, I'd be very thankful..
and lastly don't forget to enable patches in the Misc tab and then you can now play and tweak more to your liking..
hope this helps..!!

UPDATE!!!!
I was able to try the latest gsdx plugin r1372 on pcsx2 r1233 and I gained a boost of about 10% fps from my original config..I ran the game without the patch and the game went fast and smooth on a 60-9999-0-0 setting..so feel free to try them also..thanks to Pcsx2, Gabest, Bositman and thjs community.......!!
