If you would consider AMD...newegg has a "AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz Dual-Core Desktop Processor - C3 Revision" for $99.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819103846

It's a good processor for dual core and can be O.C. to 3.9GHz on stock fan/or after-market air cooler, maybe more. And since it's Black Edition, Overclocking is made easy, you can O.C. by changing the Core Multiplier.

The "AMD Phenom II X2 550 Callisto 3.1GHz Dual-Core Desktop Processor" is the same processor but without the Black Edition, the extra .1GHz and you O.C. it like a normal processor. Newegg has it for $87.99 right now.

The AMD Phenom II X4 940 is a Quad-core AMD processor. The AMD Phenom's are, or at least suppose to be, the rivals to the Intel i3, i5, and i7 series though i7's are the dominators.

OK, what about the Core2Quad one do you have any information about it?

because the computer shop told me it's the latest modern one released till now and here in Kuwait it cost about 80 KW( Kuwaiti Dinar) almost about 300$

So why it's more expensive than the dual core AMD Phenom 3.2Ghz one?

Any information please, this makes me confused.
And please tell me the best one i can buy from the newegg site you gave me, am intending to buy one? Which one is better the 99$ or the 87$ one?

Thanks,.

Dude, please forget about core2duo/quad crap because it's old and slow, this bastard from ur computer shop just trying to sell u something old for some incredibly high price. Best choices for u at the moment would be:
From AMD:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819103727
Phenom II X4 965 is a great quad core cpu clocked at 3.4GHz u don't have to overclock it even for the most demanding games. It's the best price/power cpu u can buy for pcsx2 at the moment. Both AMD Phenoms II X2 550 and 555 will be great also. As u can see in my rig I got one, runs just great.
From intel:

i5 680 is the fastest dual core cpu on market, clocked at 3.6GHz, u don't have to overclock it much for pcsx2. Can't go much faster than this one for pcsx2 for real.

If u do have your own oil refinery or something like that and u don't care about price u could go for this one but it will be slower than i5 680, maybe even slower than Phenom II X4 965 but u can say then that u got intel i7, most expensive and power hungry cpu on market, for some people it's much more important than speed.

I agree with midlothian on the i5 680. It is fast and no need to overclock. With 3.6GHz Stock Speed, you got to admit that compared to a Core2Quad, your getting more bang for the buck at a good price.

Not 100% true. Intel runs better for pcsx2 and a phenom II X4 965 will have a hard time with SOTC and such.

I personally wouldn't make a pc just for pcsx2.
He would benefit a lot more from an i5 750/760 in general as pretty much anything modern supports quad.

I suggest reading an overclocking guide specificly for the i7 750/760 if you want high performance on pcsx2 and getting an aftermarket cooler.
hyper 212+ if you don't have a big budget.

Me neither, that is why I've suggested Phenom II X4 965 first.

Completely disagree with u. Where is the sense in spending few hundread bucks for slow cpu and then risking of burning it during overclocking to get sensible speeds. I can risk overclocking with my cpu because it was cheap and more over it's really fast.

@BlackCitadel
BTW one more thing is needed for good pc - graphics card, just remember about that.

You seem like an amd fanboy.
Look into the performance difference between Intel and AMD for pcsx2 in the cpu benchmark thread in hardware discussion.
Even with a marginal overclock to 3ghz, it would outperform the 965.
He would not risk burning his cpu with an aftermarket cooler.
Look into overclocking instead of believing that 300mhz would magicly make your temps 50c higher before even giving advise about overclocking.
He could get around 4ghz and still be safe.

You just are intel fanboy. I am just buying parts that are best choice for the money, I don't care if it's intel or amd, nvidia or ati, or anything else. I wouldn't feel clever if I would pay 4 times more for 2fps.
