Trying to play THPS4 and am getting a black screen after the PS2 logo, I've disabled MTVU which everyone said should work but I'm still getting a black screen even with it disabled.

Try to verify your game dump.
For PCSX2 v2.0+, highlight a game in the list then right click -> Properties.
In "Summary" tab, choose "Verify".
