Transferring save states and memory card files

Hello, as the title suggest I'm wondering how to transfer my saved files from my older pcsx2 version to the newer version.

Memory cards (.ps2 files) should work with all versions, no matter which version of the emulator they were created with.
Save States however, only work with certain versions of the emulator. Basically, if it doesn't work on a certain version, nothing can be done to fix that, but they may work on other versions.

Summary: Memcards should always work, SStates might work depending on the version.
