Transparent Walls in GoW2
#11
OK! i am back with the results.

i tried all 3 Bios (USA/Europe/Japan) all gave same result with latest PCSX2 rev 1888.
so do not worry about the Bios you use anymore.
and also SSE2 / SSSE3 gave same result.

and here are the results:
------------------------
GSdx 890 + Dx9 = Green.
GSdx 890 + Dx10 = Green.

GSdx 950 + Dx9 = Green.
GSdx 950 + Dx10 = Green.

GSdx 1145 + Dx9 = Transparent.
GSdx 1145 + Dx10 = OK! <-------

GSdx 1611 + Dx9 = Transparent.
GSdx 1611 + Dx10 = OK! <-------

GSdx 1650 + Dx9 = Transparent.
GSdx 1650 + Dx10 = OK! <-------

GSdx 1873 + Dx9 = Transparent.
GSdx 1873 + Dx10 = OK! <-------

and the transparency is not always in the first level but shows in other levels in the game.

So as a conclusion, i think you have to use DX10!

Thanks for your tests,

however the official Gsdx 1873 SSE2 + Dx10 equals Green screen for me. And if I use custom Gsdx plugin I get transparent walls. My CPU does not support SSSE3.

You are welcome.

hmm. strange. cause official Gsdx 1873 SSE2 + DX10 works fine with me!
maybe it has something to do with the graphic card itself!

this is what i use:
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz
GPU: nvidia 8800 GTS 512 [ Supports DX10 ]

GSdx fixes the green screen issue via a CRC check. When your game loads, depending on which region/flavor (greatest hits version etc) of the game you have it has a different CRC. If the CRC is different from the ones Gabest is checking for, the green layer will not be removed. So you are probably using a modified/pirated copy of the game that has a different CRC than the original discs.

Thanks for the explanation Bositman,

Yes my copy is not 1:1 anymore because I don't have a dual layer burner. Is there some way to add the CRC of my game without recompiling the plugin?

Nope, it's defined in the source so you would have to modify the source and recompile the plugin with the addition.

Alright thanks for your help.

Eth3real if I decide to recompile the plugin I'll let you know. It sounds like you are having the same issue.
