Why am I not getting a cheats folder like everyone else? And why does it not recognize the cheats I put in my cheats folder when I create one?

I told you before to create a cheats folder. I guess you ignored it completely...

Where do you look for the cheats folder?

I am currently sitting in front of a pc where I only have the git version 'installed'. But I am sure that there is an automatically created cheats folder containing one example cheat in the latest stable release.

He did that more or less but still had problems. I think the cheats folder is really something that is shipped with pcsx2 and if you don't find it you are looking in the wrong directory. Creating the cheats folder should only solve the problem if you have deleted it. Otherwise you will just create an unrelated folder somewhere in your system.

I didn't. I've stated in my original post that I renamed "cheats_ws" to "cheats" in my troubleshooting, and I've created a folder in addition to the "_ws" folder since, named "cheats" with no luck.

That's where I went to get it. If there's a better place to go, please let me know!

My Documents>PCSX2>create new folder, "Cheats"

This is the same place I needed to put my Bios for the system to work, and the rest of the folders in PCSX2 were generated when I installed the program. I'm just missing the "cheats" folder.

I'll download the PCSX2 client again this evening when I get off of work, and see if I get a better result. If you guys can think of any other reasons why I might be facing this issue, I'm all ears.

Okay, I downloaded a fresh install file, and started from scratch. Still no cheats folder. I created one, put my pnach in it, no dice. So I created a new pnach, for a different game (dark cloud, it was handy) and it also starts up with "overall 0 cheats loaded". I doublechecked the pnach file name, everything is good, I removed the "//" from the patch lines. As far as I can tell it should be working.

both of these are from the new install.

I did say it was a case of portable vs installed directory problem.. So far he was trying to put his cheats in the install dir when he should have been putting them in through documents.

I haven't found a solution, but I did make out a workaround. I downloaded a save game that had a full book, figured out mymc and imported the save.

It worked, but I am still interested in a solution in case I want to play another game down the line.

Coornio, what solution would I be facing if I have a portable vs installed instance? I'm installing, using an .exe, so I'm inclined to believe I'm operating off of an installed instance. But if there's evidence otherwise, well, trust that.

Ideas?

PCSX2 is looking for cheats here:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.2.1\Cheats

You instead put it here:

Code:
c:\Users\<username>\Documents\PCSX2 1.2.1\Cheats

You need to move the file from one directory to another. Or need to change the path that pcsx2 is looking for.

Great! Thanks for that info
