Two unusual problems
#1
There have been two very unusual compatibility issues that I cannot solve.  After a year of trying every possible combination of options (not exaggerating), I finally joined the forums to ask for help.  Here are my two problems:

-  I can run Sly 2: Band of Thieves on any renderer with 16x MSAA and upscaled to 4K without any major graphical glitches or slowdowns.  However, I do own the Japanese import version, titled Kaitou Sly Cooper 2.  It's the same game, but with Japanese text.  For some reason, only OpenGL works with Kaitou Sly Cooper 2.  If I use D3D11 or D3D9, I get the "vertical red bars" glitch, with every other bar causing layering issues.  Why would the same game act differently just because it's from a different reigon?

-  This one has frustrated me intensely.  I own the E3 demo disc for the NTSC-U version of Sly 2: Band of Thieves.  Just like Kaitou Sly Cooper 2, only OpenGL can be used.  However, I can only get 3-5 FPS max.  The demo has less slowdowns than the final game (when played on an actual PS2), and I need to record it upscaled for my YouTube channel.  It also doesn't help that using any Blending Unit above "None" reduces the framrate to less than 1 FPS.

I literally created a list of every possible combination of options and tried every combination.  I tried all releases, both stable and dev builds.  I can use "Partial" in the graphics settings alongside the D3D renderers, but anything less than "Full" causes a bright purple tint with green ghosting effects.  After a full year of changing settings, I finally gave up.  Since I have tried all possible combinations of settings, I don't feel the need to screenshot my settings, as none of them make any difference.  I will do it if I am asked to.  I can provide my PC's specs if need be.

So just to clarify, you own a physical copy of each of the following?

- Kaitou Sly Cooper 2
- Sly Cooper 2 (NTSC-U)
- Sly Cooper 2 (E3 Demo Disk)

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

I've tried all versions and all possible combinations of settings.  This is really frustrating.

Yes I own physical copies of all 3 discs.  Where is emulog.txt?

I need the log from the emulator itself.

Emulog for Japanese Import and E3 Demo discs are attached.  It would not let me post the contents - something about images.

Emulog2.txt is the emulog for the E3 demo.  I didn't want you to confuse the two.

Just to clarify, I have tried ALL builds.  This emulog was created by a dev build, but I can give you one from a stable build.  Both types of builds give the same results.

OK and what about your GSdx settings when you're getting low FPS?

Either way, you don't really need to worry about DX11 and DX9 because you own a Nvidia card.

The region ids (CRC ids) are missing in the code which is why you're experiencing issues, my next PR should address the mentioned issues.
D3D doesn't render some stuff properly so the effects are skipped with crc hacks.

I'll put a github PR tomorrow or the following days to address the issue.

To answer CK1's question:

Using OpenGL causes the framerate to dip down to 5 FPS or less.  Setting Blending Unit Accuracy to anything other than "None" causes the framerate to dip down to about 1 FPS.  Direct3D renderers go full speed, but the vertical bars are there, just like the Japanese import.  I'm doing a playhrough of both on my YouTube channel, and I really want it to look good.

Any OpenGL settings do this.

What happens if you use opengl but set the CRC in gsdx to directx
If you get the speed back, then wait for the lightningterror changes to be merged and the buildbot to compile it
