I have a ATI 3200, 4GB of ram, AMD Phenom II X4 @3GB for my system. I can set it up to 512MB, but I am wondering if PCSX2 needs 512 for the GPU or if it would be better used for CPU.

Since you already have abundant system RAM I'd say use them for the GPU. But probably either way won't matter to PCSX2
