Users Reputation

I've been kinda absent from the forums lately and im noticing this Reputation thing all users have. How does it work?

You press the button next to find (with the green +) in a post to give a user some reputation for the specific post. You can also give reputation to a user (not referenced to a specific post) by clicking on the reputation number of his profile but you can only do it once per user this way.
