Very slow FPS with <10% EE, GS and VU
#1
Hi Guys,

First time posting here, also - perhaps not so surprisingly - first time using PCSX2.

So I have read through the configuration guide multiple times, fiddled with all the settings, tried multiple games and don't seem to be getting anywhere!

The issue: PCSX2 reports 60fps in the game window however I the video is ridiculously laggy. I'm not getting anywhere near 10fps and sadly it's completely unplayable for all games I've tested!

The details:
i7 920 @ stock (2.8)
ATI HD 6950 (2gb VRAM)
6gb DDR3

Windows 8.1 Pro
PCSX2 1.0.0 r5350

When attempting to play a game my CPU and GPU don't flinch, I don't think they're being used at all? I've attached a screenshot and you can see the CPU and GPU just aren't being used.

The intro videos (EA games, the bios screen etc) all play smoothly, and the audio is fine all the time too. However as soon as the menu screens appear or I start a game the video lags massively.

The EE, VU and GS values at the top of the screen rarely go about 10% and never 15%.

My settings are

Video GSDX10:
Direct3D11 (Hardware though I've tried software too)
Native Resolution (tried 2x and 3x)
Texture filtering grey box.
Extra Rendering threads 3

Default Settings in the "Emulator Settings" Window. Value of 1 for EE cyclerate and VU cycle stealing, though have tried every combination to no avail...

Any help would be greately appreciated. It seems almost like PCSX2 isn't utilising the hardware at all for some reason?

Many thanks,

you could have taken screenshots but alright ;p

can you try disabling all speedhacks including MTVU? If that doesn't help, try the EE Timing fix.

Plugins should be fine, if any of those are a culprit it might be SSSPSX Pad plugin, we generally use lilypad these days. But try what i said above first.

Ha a screenshot may have been easier in hindsight.

That worked! Fantastic stuff. So it looks like MTVU is the culprit? I'll have a play with the speedhacks and see if I can norrow it down.

Thanks a lot for your help. Very much appreciated Smile

MTVU doesn't work with a few games and will cause problems Smile

Would be interesting to know which game you played when you had issues with MTVU.

I'll bear that in mind in future. Thanks again - and thanks for such an awesome emulator!
