Vidcard Memory Bus type effect speed?
#1
I'm looking to upgrade the rig in my sig, And i was looking at the 680 instead of a 580, cause in PC games, it's a monster.

However, It only has a 256bit memory bus, while the 580 has 384bit memory bus. Will that effect PCSX2 when scaling? i want basically as high of scaling i can't get (hoping for 4x on everything with in reason)
the GTX580 will have 3gb GDDR5, the GTX680 will have 2GB GDDR5

aside from memory bus speed and memory amount, the GTX680 beats out the 580 in everyway. I'll probably wait till the 685 comes out with the higher bus speed, if it matters.

did you even look at the 192GB/s that BOTH the 580 and 680 output?
and there won't be a 685, when GK110 is ready come august, the 104 will be rebranded GK114 and sold as the 760 while the 110 releases as the 780.

I did look at both, I know the total output is the same, I wanted to know if bus speed effected anything.

And i guess it's the 700 series it is.

....it just means both cards will have the same performance where things like render to texture effects consume alot of memory bandwidth, such as the fire in Xenosaga 2
