What does it mean when

I get better FPS without any speed hacks in FFX than with all of them turned on (including VU)

System.

WindowsXP SP3
ATI Radeon 4670
AMD64 4400+ @ 2.67ghz (AM2 technology)
2GB Mushkin Enhanced 4-4-4-10
450W PSU w/ 25A

Speed Hacks - All Enabled to max =

45fps on the scene when your leaving on that boat.

Speed Hacks - None

49 FPS on that same scene.

Other settings:

D3D9 (Hardware)
Pixel Shader 3.0
4:3 Aspect Ratio
800/600 Native Resolution
Checked Texture Filtering and Logarithmic Z

Theirs a ton of different ways to combine the speed hacks. Anyone know why my system is'nt recognizing them or using them to its disadvantage? Is their a special update needed for this to work?

actually not really.

Does GSdx show you 99% cpu usage? That means you are GPU limited, meaning all these hacks are taking load off your CPU but the speed problem is caused by your GPU.

It in fact does not show 99%. It is usually around 30-50% and sometimes bumps to 70-80%. The thing is my Video card is a
ATI Radeon 4670. Here is a link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6814121305

Do you think it could be the GPU?

Hm, if it is anything below 90% it's not that...try getting the latest beta and use it after deleting the pcsx2.ini file from your /ini folder.

I have the beta 1040 right now. I need to go in and delete the 0.9.6 INI file?

Same game
I'm getting the same CPU usage(60%)with or without Texture Filetring and with Native or 1600x1200...the speed in both ways is low and the same. With no hacks(Native+TF or 1600x1200)60% and with all of the hacks on 75%(Native+TF or 1600x1200)

I'm using pcsx2-r1045 and GSdx-r1006...ZeroGS(no sound)
With hacks the speed is higher

Could a lower clocked memory be causing this? My MB supports 1066 memory, and mine is 800. Dunno if that could make a difference.

Not exactly true... anything below 65% it's not that. When GSDX starts using 70% framerate drops by 5-7 fps... at least for me.

Sure you get a small FPS hit but nothing major or game-breaking. (since I was referring to if the GPU is the bottleneck or not)

Anyway Blackdog22 this sounds mostly a problem from your part, mainly I'd guess your PC configuration/hardware since I still can't find a way bad PCSX2 settings would give you worse FPS with more speed hacks on. If you got the same FPS that would be quite possible, but lower is strange
