For my point of view is quite normal to be x86 code obsolete....Pc are now all a x64 machines

Everyone seem to think x64 should be faster, but have you seen for example WinRar benchmark between 32bit and 64bit? Only half second faster with compressing and half second slower with decompressing.

Yeah but WinRAR is horrible shareware. Do you have any benchmarks with a good compression tool like the open-source and vastly superior 7-Zip? Also keep in mind that certain compression algorithms don't take advantage of different architectures so make sure you compare the two with a relatively modern algorithm.

I remember way back when, PCSX2 only supported one core. People talked of multi-core support and at the time, devs said support would not speed up PCSX2 to much. Then it got secondary core support...and games were much faster.

So naturally, people said "Why not support more cores?" and the devs said "Two is the most beneficial, three would probably be slower because of syncing(Or something, I can't remember the word)"

Then, we got a Speed had to add tri-core support...and what happened? Games got another huge boost in speed with minimal bugs. So...one thing I've learned about the PCSX2 team is, they'll say one thing, do another, and prove themselves wrong lol.

What you saw there was single, brilliant ideas on how to overcome a problem, Mkilbride.
You don't often get one of these and therefore, for all practical purposes, the problem cannot be overcome.
