What is the recommended D3D internal res?
#1
Right now I have it set at 1024x1024 or native. Could I possibly put it higher? I see screenshots of games and they look so much better than what mine shows, especially on ICO. FFX and ICO are fullspeed just to give you an idea.

My specs are:
1440x900 19"
E8400 @3.00
ATI Radeon 4870
4GB RAM

Graphics Config:
1440x900 75Hz
Native
DX10 hardware w/ Pixel Shader 4.0
aspect ratio: 16:9
Interlacing: None
Texture Filtering

well you could use any res (just don't go above 1600x1800 (you see anything noticeable that high anyways Tongue))
Windows 7 64bit
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 OC to 3.6GHz, Intel GMA x4500, 1GB DDR2

What a difference! I changed it from native to 1440x900 and ICO looks so much better.

btw is that D3D res - texture size like 512x512, 1024x1024, 4096x4096 .. or resolution in which game is rendered - like 1280x720, 1920x1080 etc. ? should I put there 1280x1024 (my monitors res) or 1024x1024 (as in texture size)

i believe that would be render target size (not texture size nor window size), and you can put your monitor's size Tongue

That's the texture size or something. It was explained to me that this number doesn't need to be the same as your monitor size and the two numbers should be the same. 1024x1024 2048x2048 etc

Increasing this number(the internal res) will cause a slow down

that IS what I'm asking .. do I write texture size there as in 1024x1024 or my monitor res as in 1280x1024 .. a lot of people write the latter

use your monitors res if you are having it full screen. it is the render target resolution, so any polygons rendered will be done at that res so..

Fullscreen: your monitors res
Windowed, dependant what size the window is, a percentage of your monitors res, up to the full resolution (although you wont notice much more
