7300 is easy to overclock. Just set FSB to 333 --> no other changes needed Wink
Buy C2D and don't eat for 2 months. Easy solution Wink

"I was going to laugh at you and call you out for being a n00b, since I very clearly remember (and have credit card bills to prove) that I bought a E6850 for $125 from newegg a few months ago. As dated as it is, it's still a very solid choice for the budget-oriented.

Just checked, it's now $199.99"

they don't want to only steal from you they want your soul too.

And it's price is 120$.
Getting the E8400 is more interesting if you want to use pcsx2.

Stupid economy.
E6580 is 65 nm technology. E6xxx are all pretty expensive, because I think Intel stopped fabbing them. Unless Intel runs into a warehouse that they forgot to open. E7xxx, E8xxx and E5xxx are all 45 nm tech, which is the current manufacturing process. E5xxx are actually the cheapest Core 2 Duos, but rebranded under the Pentium line.

My suggestion is the E7300. It clocks well to 3.0 GHz without any changes, aside from FSB. Not bad at $120

What about Core 2 Quad?i know it doesnt use the 4 "cpus" only 2 but isnt that fast?btw...its 2.66ghz but since its 2"cpus"used not 4,isnt that the same as a C2D?2"cpus"(quad) and 2"cpus"(C2D)and i saw a guy with a C2Q and was able to go faster then original speed of FFX 0_0
video:***.youtube.c o m/watch?v=sQ7NZKdDCtE(***=www spaces to erase)and his quad is only like .44 higher then 2.66ghz

so is C2D3.0ghz STILL faster then a C2Q 2.66ghz?

p.s.i want to get the quad because i found a combo deal that has ALL PARTS to the computer(like hard drive, ram, processor, motherboard, case,a kick ass graphics card etc.)for 300 insted of like 400+ dollars

the c2d is way faster than a c2q 2.66, at least for pcsx2 purposes...that is, unless you're running intensive background apps. if the prices were similar though, id still opt for the quad. pcsx2 is definitely more cpu-bound than anything else. id overclock.
PCSX2 SVN-563 VTLB // C2E QX6850 @ 3.38ghz, Radeon HD 4850 512mb, 8gb DDR2-1000, Velociraptor 10000rpm 300gb, Vista Business x86-64, XB360 Wired Controller

????? At same frequency , a c2q should perform the same way as a c2d for pcsx2

ok so now there is 2 things,it wont be fast enough, the same frequuency it will....what do you mean same frequency

p.s. i might get the combo deal and keep the C2Q for keeps and get a C2D,that way,i have 2 processors,1 backup one(or use for later when i upgrade my dads cpu)and 1 for use(for pcsx2 and whatever i do on the computer

You'll get same performance with a Q9650 @ 3 GHz
than a E8400 @ 3 GHz for pcsx2.
You can also overclock a C2Q (45nm ) to reach 3Ghz,
and I think it will be same performance again.
There's perhaps a difference of 10% of performance between
45nm & 65nm CPU.
