Why won't my laptop run games well
#1
Hello,
my laptop has a Ryzen 5 3500u processor and a Vega 8 graphics card.
The benchmark says my processor is good enough and the temperature is not high while using it.
Laptop is always plugged in and in power mode, the laptop is also new.
My games (especially Time Splitters and Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks) aren't running well at all even with multiple speed hacks and looking at configurations.
I also have the newest Pcsx2 version 1.5.?
Honestly I am just frustrated because I was trying for days to run these games.
What I can say is that my GPU is strained way more then my CPU.
My CPU is mostly just hovering around 30 to 40 percent usage but my GPU goes up to 60 to high 60 percents.
I thought Pcsx2 was CPU dependant, so why is my GPU strained the most?
Even when using Software mode where it puts a really big strain on the CPU it lags...
Please judt help me haha

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

That 3500u may be better than the recommended.. but it may not be fully up to the task of some of the games. Passmark shows it having a 2k stp.. which should be pretty solid.. but my old 3770 with 2100 stp struggled with some games. That said, passmark doesnt seem to have great info for laptop processors.. for instance it says my 2500u is something like 1820 stp now, it used to say it was 1600 (last I checked it was when I got my laptop 8 months ago). So I cannot say for sure that the processor actually performs that well (just an example, stp ratings on passmark seem to fluctuate).

What are you seeing in passmark (performance test) for your stp?

In Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks ee is around 95% and gs is around 60 %
I use D11 or whatever it is called Hardware with a hack on aggressive.
Tested it without the hack, doesnt make much of a difference.
Time Splitter lags with around 65% ee and 10% gs

alright. your cpu is struggling. i guess your power plan must have a problem. Review it.

er... it's not precise enough. please screenshot gsdx config and post it here.

this i don't get why. let's focus on MK SM for now. it may be a good for other games.

Funnily enough I used exactly  this programm.
I don't know it is a score or whatever but single threaded gave me the number I mentioned before.
Or did you want another category?
