that CPU of that laptop is pretty good...but the GPU is the main gap performance thus it will run slow.

Quote:Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 Specifications:
* Windows 7 Professional
* 15.6" HD 1366 x 768 WXGA Anti-glare
* Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB Cache)
* 3GB DDR3 RAM (2GB x 1GB)
* 320GB Hitachi 7200RPM Hard Drive

If those specs are within your laptop.It's ok. Your problem is only the mobile GPU. Should be able to emulate FFX, KH 1-2 properly.

if the motherboard of your laptop has a free pci-e yes you can probably add a gpu and it will be allot better in pcsx2 and generally... but you should ask first from where you get it for precise answers if it can take a gpu and if it will be ok running it.

Quote: Question :I purchased my laptop, a Dell Studio 1537 base model. Does anyone know/is there a way to tell if I would be able to extend the integrated graphics by adding a dedicated GPU?

Answer :there is an option, it is unreasonably expensive, and does not offer the full benefit of a proper graphics card.

If your laptop support MXM model for gpu than you can upgrade your laptop with compatible vgacard supported. But mostly your laptop can not. Many laptop with thin and integrated igp by default can not use vga card add on.
