Haha my friend told me the exact same thing too! He tells me just getting the parts and customizing it myself would save me a crap load of money and a fun learning process. But, the anticipation is slowly eating away at me, I need my PS2 games back in my life xD

Depending on how interested in PC gaming you are I would highly suggest learning to build your own. There are tons of great step by step guides on the internet and I'm sure every body here who knows how will agree that it may seem really intimidating it is actually incredibly easy.

Not only is it rewarding to build your own it also saves you a lot of money. And since PC gaming requires a bit more technical knowledge then just dropping a disc in a tray and playing it's worth teaching your self more and more PC related skills as you go along to make the hobby all that more awesome.

Feel free to PM me if you want some more advice or have questions. I'd be happy to help you get started and point you in the right direction.

If you do decide to buy I would give my personal props to CyberPower PC. I've gotten all my gaming laptops from them and the prices are good.

If you get a ati card you should get a 6770 or 5770. They are very affordable 100$ cards and ***** on many cards performance, they have great performance and can play pcsx2 in a heart beat smoothly for most games like the Kingdom Hearts series.

Memory bandwidth
Radeon HD 6770 67200 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 64000 MB/sec

Not recommended for those who want to play scaled up.

Doesn't matter that much if he's not building his new rig :/
Anyways just to let you know if you could squeeze about 200$ more into that 500$ then I can guarantee you can get an "AWESOME" gaming rig =D
Intel E5700 @3.0Ghz,
Xfx Radeon 5670 1Gb,
4Gb DDR3 Ram,
Microsoft Windows7 Ultimate x86

5770/6770 have 76800 MB/sec bandwidth which should be enough for 2-3x scaling and not bad for the price.

2x. 3x is pushing it and in most games it would slow below full speed due to bandwith limits.
I'd consider 100GB/s as a rough mark for a good PCSX2 gpu.

and if its Xenosaga 2/3 you're playing, it doesn't matter what size you scale to, 130GB/s WILL be saturated when fire or smoke are on screen.
