If you're bluetooth is not supported, but is 2.0 or greater, you can go into the system folder and open up bthwinusb.inf with notepad. Then replace one of the USB hardware id's with your own in the top and bottom section. I successfully got my unsupported bluetooth dongle to work on one of my pcs.

That said I'm having a issue with my one of my computers being unable to install the bluetooth driver.

It does not even seem to be trying to install the bluetooth driver. It works when connected via usb, but the bluetooth drive refuses to install. Anyone have any suggestions or have a similar problem?

@ _vitalbullet_. Does your remote work without installing the software?

Well, I've tried delayed start, even task schedule after Atheros logged events, with no luck. Actually I'm the only one with this problem and heck, hypervisors and VM's made me too lazy. So I'll look into bootlog to see sequence. Will try to debug if this persists then PM you with details . Sorry for vain disturbance.

Did you ever get this solved? I have a very similar problem:

Toshiba laptop with Atheros BT, Win7-64. Install SCP DS3, works great. Reboot, BT doesn't work (but USB does). Uninstall, reinstall, BT works again.

(As a side-note, I checked my Windows/System32/drivers/AtherosBT.bin, and while I can see it there, trying to interact with it gives me a "file not found" error. I'm pretty computer-savvy, but I couldn't find a replacement file online, and Windows doesn't exactly come packaged with fwcutter.)
Is anybody else getting a BSOD error with the SCP DS3 service? The drivers install fine, and the service starts up, but as soon as I plug in the controller, I get a BSOD involving either ScpVBus.sys, or MijXfilt.sys. I used to have MotionInJoy installed, but I'm pretty sure I got rid of that along with its drivers (though it's likely I may have missed something) so I'm not sure what's actually causing the issue.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and using the USB connection, if that helps.
@forgone The 4 led's are flashing thats it...
I DON'T have bluetooth on my desktop, but that shouldn't be a problem I think since I'm ticking off the bluetooth box...
I'm not sure if this has been posted about, but I've noticed that when the DS3 is plugged into USB and powered up, within about 10 minutes any full-screen game will lose focus and go back to the desktop.

This continues to happen at random intervals.

The games I've noticed it happening on are:

Skyrim
SPAZ
Burnout Paradise

I haven't tested it in more than that yet.

I'm running driver version 1.0.0.103 on Windows 8 x64
As I play Mortal Kombat my dualshock 3 gamepad sporadically starts rumbling endlessly not responding to keystrokes. How do I avoid that or at least switch rumble off please?
turned out, same thing happens to me in other games, please help
