XenoSaga 2 and Strange Black Boxes

Ah yes, apparently the Xenosaga games are lovely problem childs. 
This particular issue spans 2 different builds I use. 
One is a desktop with a 2080ti - the other is a handheld with an Intel 615 in it.
Both are using the latest 1.5 build.
I have zero idea on how to fix it, other than that the game runs fairly well. I have also looked for other posts on this issue without any luck.

Basic stuff, just running it in 4K. As I've said - this strange error persist over 2 different systems I use. Only when in hardware modes. I've messed with many settings before and nothing seems to change it.

Curious if you tried OpenGL.
I seem to remember this issue in DX.

It's recommended to use OGL anywho with a Nvidia card
