Okay, the video not showing is pretty much what I assumed it was (texture cache messup).
This is the stuff that's scheduled for a rewrite.

Thanks. This sure is a weird issue.

If you are talking about the black and white Shion flashback cutscenes: Save state and then load it and those cutscenes will be visible. And yes it's still a known issue.

I filed an issue report about this at github a few days ago so the devs definitely know about it as they've commented on it, but they think it's something that will likely require a GSDX rewrite to end up fixing, so it probably won't happen any time soon. Sad I know but there's not much that can be done at the moment as far as I know beyond using the work arounds.

It has to do with the suspicious way the PS2 does black and white, and it confuses the hell out of GSdx. I don't know if it requires a rewrite or not.

That's everyone's experience on PCSX2 AFAIK. It's just that they're supposed to show in black and white though. That's how they look on the original PS2 hardware. If you look up a playthrough that was captured from the original hardware you'll be able to see them in black and white. TBH until I replayed the game I didn't even remember those cutscenes existed, let alone that they were in black and white, but the last time I had played XS was back when it came out and that was over 10 years ago, so my memory wasn't the best.

No, for me and some others the cutscenes do not show at all unless you do the save load state thing. Perhaps it's a combination of settings or something, but for me when I reached that point the video output is solid black, but the audio continues. If you wait through the scene without doing anything, once it's over, the video comes back.

That frightens me if so. I saw people posting about in threads from even 2010 though so I just kind of assumed it was always like that.
