Well, not toothpaste but a clean hair shampoo because toothpaste contains minerals that can scratch/harm the surface of the CD.

True, Toothpaste is bit excesive.. and makes very lil scratches... but why bother that if you only need to read it once to copy everything back to hdd to make an backup Closedeyes

Iam sure i did try shampoo before trying toothpaste .. if i recall correct..

And well, since shampoo didn't help much i took my chance by using toothpaste..

Maybe it matters which brand of shampoo you have to use...
Shwarzkoph will yield bette results ..perhaps Rolleyes

But ofcourse, if its an bad press... your pretty much screwed...

Maybe an CD/DVD quality test usually proves how reliable the data is on an CD/DVD ... before you rub the surface whit toothpaste!!
