async audio no longer in the options bar

hi everyone, i have installed a couple of games for pcsx2, mainly need for speed games, and they run fine, the only issue is that the audio appears to be distorted/ slowed down for some reason. I remember that on an older build of pcsx2 there was an audio setting called async, which i remember solved the audio problem with these games, but on newer builds of pcsx2 that setting is nowhere to be found. I have already tried messing around with the timestretch option but nothing seems to fix the problem.
Does anyone know how i can enable async audio on the newer builds of pcsx2?
