audio problems...i think

first off, up until earlier today this emulator had been working fine with no problems at all, then i try playing a game and out of nowhere i start getting these errors and now i have no audio with the emulator at all.

laptop is a inspiron 1545, windows 7, pentium ® dual-core cpu t4400 @ 2.20 GHz, 4gb ram

and spare me the whole "it won't run well on a laptop" talk. i can play dot hack volumes 1 and 2 on here fine with minimal sluggishness among other games.

Those errors don't have anything to do with your audio.

But set DEV9 plugin to null.

And look at the blue FAQ in my sig, audio section.

These errors are normal since your CPU doesn't support AVX & AVX2, and ytou probably didn't nstall winpcap (hence the dev9ghz error)
about the audio problem : try setting audio renderer to portaudio
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

"since your CPU doesn't support AVX & AVX2"

right, cause its been running fine for months without any errors related to what i posted above until now. >.>

also, the only dev9 plugin that comes with the emulator is null so thats set to that by default. as for the audio plugin, its set to SPU2-X by default with the audio module set to 4 - portaudio (crossplatform) by default as well.

@Blyss Sarania: after taking a quick look at your faq i'll try doing as you said there and switch it to 1 - Xaudio2 (recommended) and see if that works.

edit: huh, looks like that did it. still seems a bit odd that it'd work fine for so long then suddenly give those errors though.

maybe you recently updated pcsx2 ?

Yeah, recently updating would explain the new plugin errors as well. Since old build didn't have AVX and AVX2

i'm not too sure of that since the previous version i had (i usually grab the latest copy off the automated builds page when i "update" this emulator) was pcsx2-v1.2.1-670-g84f8447-windows-x86 and the latest version i grabbed is pcsx2-v1.2.1-775-gff24a5f-windows-x86

both seem to come with the same set of plugins including those AVX ones. newer versions of the plugins perhaps as the file sizes look to be larger in the new version.

Anyway also not too long ago the default audio module was changed from Xaudio to Portaudio.

So that's what did it.

Portaudio apparently works for more people. But some people have more luck with Xaudio. Which is exactly why I said to switch either way in the FAQ.

Never had a single issue with Xaudio to be honest. Guess it might be specific to some games idk.

Portaudio to work you may have to enable an option once you choose it...either chose from Host API "Windows WDM-KS" or enable "WASAPI Exclusive Mode" but I still prefer XAudio2(don't have a reason)
