did you try pressing F9 ? if that doesn't solve it then, try loading from the previous save from your memory card, the savestates might have caused an bug.

Adding to this, I would also say to turn on Texture Filtering. By default it's in the middle option which is what is known as 'grayed out', which only filters 3D textures.
