Not null, just software mode, at least for those games which don't work (what seems the reason for the thread).
The point is Intel graphics seem to have a flawed DX implementation and is black listed on some PC games as well. Not being user of Intel from very long time I don't know about it's performance first hand and don't really follow newer implementations closely, still this doesn't seem to have changed yet in recent releases.
