cant play sly cooper

I have downloaded both sly cooper 2 & 3 and both games start with cut-scenes. These cut-scenes can be skipped by simply pressing the "start" button. which i have swapped keybind to enter since i play on keyboard and mouse. the issue i have is that after the cut-scene you have to press start to continue but it doesnt work. my friend that plays on controler on the other hand gets a message on screen that he has to do this but i dont, i am not sure if it is a keybind issue or a game issue. I have already searched on the internet tryna find fixes for the keybind thing but nothing is working for me. anyone got any ideas?
