ok so i didnt have a cheat or patch folder under my pcsx2 folder so i created one and put my pnach file in there but i dont think they're working so what do i do? the game is dragon quest 8 journey of the cursed king

and this is what the file looks like

The codes must be raw (non encrypted), the active one above seems an original codebreaker which must be converted to raw before use, they should look as those below with 0 in the address second digit.

Use an application to do the trick, omniconvert is one the recommended. It's intuitive, enter the code at the left window, chose the device for input (codebreaker v7+ in that case) and click convert (the default output is raw). replace the result on your pnach.

PS: I'm not sure if that format is for codebreaker v6 or v7+, the correct is the one which wields the 0 at the second digit.

edit: ok i tried that but it generated the same code as before so should i change the input or output to anything different?

And you are 100% sure that you have the NTSC game? (American) and not the PAL (European) game?

ya because i tried switching it to the european console and it wouldnt run
and it also says disk region type ntsc
btw im running it off my disc if that makes a difference and i had to make a folder under my pcsx2 directory called cheats

that's right about the cheats part, but I would say if you have it installed in program files (x86) make sure that you install it to another directory or on another partition, since Windows 7 have a permission bug with some software in Program Files (x86) and make an Iso/Image out of your game disc with Imgburn, which you can get here: www.imgburn.com.

Try these 2 codes below, I converted Action Replay MAX Codes, since those mostly work better for me then Codebreaker codes, I can't find a 4x XP code though.

okay thanks and is there a tutorial for using imgburn to make an iso? also i moved it out of the program files but now it says it cant find the plugins

Uninstall PCSX2 and reinstall it in for example in C:\PCSX2. And IMGBurn is quite straightforwarded and not difficult to use
