directx confusion

i'm sorry if there is a post about this but i can't seem to find one that helps, i have gone through the configuration post and none of the steps seems to help. I am running 64 bit vista with directX 10.1 and every time i try to load a game i get a message that i need to upgrade my direct x and it takes me to a page to install directX 9.0c.

I'm not entirely sure what to do from here, i even did a google search on this page and the only topics i saw basicly said "if your getting that message then you need to upgrade directX)

well obviously since i'm using directX10.1 i cant exactly upgrade to 9.0c

any help would be apreciated

why would you assume that it's dx9.0c , just run that upgrade (it's for both dx9 and dx10)

i found the second update, the first one i clicked on said right on the page it was for 9.0c. i got it. ignore this post
