So you interpreted "gets the same 3Dmark06" as "performing better." And you wonder why Cain faults your reading comprehension? In this case it's a well-justified request on his behalf. He reported that the two chips get the same 3DMark06 in response to a couple other folks brining up 3DMarks. His statement is true (I checked). The fact that you interpret it as some kind of baseless attack on you cpu's brandname is an indication that you're probably feeling a little over-sensitive about this whole issue.

So to everyone involved: If you don't like this fact, then stop using 3Dmarks as a measure of your CPUs. Shooting the messenger isn't going to change the fact that 3Dmarks are and always have been pretty subjective material.

and there are lots of real apps (read: non-synthetic) that could better gauge you cpu's performance. and there's the games too.
setup:
Intel E2180 @ 2.67Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT @ 730/1110/1785
1x2 GB Patriot LLK 800Mhz 4-4-4-10

My hardware knowledge is quite limited, it's just that there is a big discount with that processor so... you see Tongue
isn't the Xeon cpus only for server motherboards (and pcs Tongue)? Smile

World record on Phenom II is currently 7,14 Ghz I think. Some pro clocker OC'd it to 6.8 stable Smile

No, among others, there are 775 and 1366 Xeons. Those for 1366 cost less and can be clocked higher than i7 965 with less hassle Wink
Why didn't I go for Xeon...? XD I'm stupid.
