Yes. Totally different actually. It's totally different from dual cores etc if that makes you feel better Tongue The whole x86 architecture.

... eh, no. It's THREE cpus and a GPU put on one die. Smile

Both Vector Units (VU0 and VU1) are independent high-powered SIMD CPUs. Both of those and the GPU are linked to the main core (R5900) via an internal DMA system (very fast).

..And it's designed differently than a pc. Totally.
So much that terms like CPU and GPU don't really apply to it even Tongue2

You can read here just how complicated PS2 is.

Yes,because every game looks much better on PC.There's nothing that good grafic card and cpu can't do.Smile Example good grafics and other feautures were left out of PS2 edition of mafia:city of lost heaven.

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. x86 architecture is apostate in world of CPU's, it's considered as WEAK, energy consuming and multipurpose (yes, it's a penalty) solution. It's rather cheap for multipurpose. Note that share of x86 cpu's is minor on whole CPU's market. So modern game developers are migrated into consoles. And, compare nouvelle PS3 games with PC's -- PC's graphics are outdated. It's not strange, 7 PowerPC SIMD co-processors could do more calculation (very specific) that every intell CPU now.

That also has a lot more due to creating graphics for the lowest common denominator for PC games. Console games generally have no significant variances so you don't have that same issue.
