game loads up fine, but nothing happens when i select "new game" (music playing and black screen, cpu and gpu doing math)

i made the iso myself from the original dvd that i used to play on my ps2, so i know it works

any tips?

Use beta 0.9.7 of PCSX2 and SPU2-X as SPU2 plugin.
