it runs smooth now but the graphics seem a little worse than native ps2 graphics

That mean you must stick with native res to playing well for this game. your grapich card is bottleneck.

because you are running your PS2 on CRT which have a low res making PS2 look nice Smile

ATI 5670 or 5770 they both perform pretty nice if you have the budget you can go to 58xx or 59xx but you will face some bottleneck Sad

Anything with 128bit and has gddr3/gddr5 for HD 5xxx series is good enought but higher is better. For example my gpu is HD 5730M GDDR3(notebook user) which is equivalent with HD 5570 GDDR3. I can set 2X Native res for FFXII without slowdown because bottleneck on gpu but as above has said HD 5670 or HD 5770 can give you more better visual quality.
