graphics driver update causes lag
#1
I've only been able to get 2 games running properly, ffx and dbzbt3. ffx still seems to play fine, but dbz lags horribly. i used to get 45-60 fps and now i'm only getting 6 and i haven't changed any settings. PCSX2 isn't the only thing that started lagging though. Both Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham city lag as well as ePSXe. I've tried rolling back my driver and they all ran smoothly again, but whenever i tried opening the catalyst control center, it gave an error message saying i didn't have a driver installed or that it wasn't properly functioning. i've tried other older versions and they either had that same issue or it didn't list the graphics/display driver in the catalyst installer. Can anyone explain to me how i should go about downgrading my graphics driver? I've got an a6 3420m.

PS) I already know it's not a virus, power supply issue, heavy process in the background, or that my graphics card isn't capable of running these games. I'm 110% positive it's the graphics driver.

Download this: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/driv...nload.html
This: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
And this: http://www.guru3d.com/files_get/amd_cata...oad,2.html

Note: If you're on Windows 8 or Vista, run everything as administrator (right click > run as administrator).
1. Express uninstall everything related to amd (driver, application profiles etc...).
2. Run CCleaner registry clean until no more errors are found.
3. Open Driver Sweeper, tick the amd checkbox and click analyze.
4. Click clean, close any prompts that come up and then clean again.
5. When driver sweeper asks you to restart, click yes/ok.
6. When you're back in windows, repeat step 2-5.
7. Once back in windows, install the driver you just downloaded.
8. Restart.
9. Once back into windows, repeat step 2.
10. Done

I know the above seems anal but its the best way to make sure you've uninstalled any old drivers and installed new ones cleanly.

my graphics card is integrated. it's the 6520g. you sure that's the driver i want?

edit* i just installed the driver and it didn't install a display driver. should i go ahead and try to install the latest display driver? the only way i can do it is by auto detect and it gives me version 12.104

Oh *****...err give me a sec.

EDIT:

Download and install this instead of the previous driver I linked (I updated the above post with the new link): http://www.guru3d.com/files_get/amd_cata...oad,2.html - You should probably repeat the steps above though. I thought you had a 3000 series raddeon hd mobility card, not an apu lol. Sorry Laugh

lol it's okay. i think it worked anyways. i went ahead and installed the drivers that were auto detected as well. i think what fixed it was either the registry clean or driver sweep thing. well i'm gonna try it all again just in case and download the new one you recommended.
