well i've been planning to upgrade my pc but i dont want to buy a new motherboard...

all i've got is an asus p5vd2 vm se

can you tell me what's the best hardware for these?

From the Asus website: P5VD2-VM SE

It only officially supports 65nm Core 2 Duo CPUs (E1xxx, E2xxx, E4xxx and E6xxx). There is a chance that it might unofficially support newer 45nm CPUs with the latest BIOS updates, but it would depend on chance.
