well, plugings you need to get are mostly determined by game, usualy the newest are the best but not always
and btw your pc is slow so dont expect much

See the configuration guide.
Your CPU seems a little weak to get any good speeds with most games though...

how come? because its not a PC game that you are mentioning .. console games are way more demanding

not for every game but some requires it ...

new versions of emu are released all the time, tough they are bugged, recently for example i get one of the newest 1726 and i couldnt run my bloody roar 4 ... worked with older with no probs

Please don't compare native code to emulated code, as the translation process applied to the latter makes it far heavier on your machine.

basically, in lay-man term

because this is an emulator, your PC has to pretend it is a console which different sets of hardware and codes. This is why is it more resource-damanding than running a game which is written for PC, which your PC can understand and run well.

Emulated Resident Evil 4 for PS2 = demanding
Resident 4 PC version = not demanding

hope it helps

Consoles operate on the basis of game cycles or timings as far as I know....to be able to emulate consoles or handhelds correctly, it require perfect timing between chips/ICs. It takes tremendous CISC resources to keeps the emulated chips in perfect sync. Look at nintendulator and nestopia, those emus aspire for perfect timings hence they have massive requirements (Pentium 3?) compared to other nes emus.
