So I have a Lenovo P51 with an Intel i7-7700HQ and an NVidia Quadra M1200. However, when I play Gran Turismo 4, I get a pretty bad lag whichever graphics plugin I use, and ditto for GTA: Vice City Stories. I've set the default graphics for this app to be the Nvidia, to no avail.
My computer can do Grand Theft Auto 4 pretty decently, as well as Wii/GC, and consoles before. How can I get my laptop to run PS2 games acceptably on PCSX2?

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.
Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]
Pasted emulog goes here

few questions.. and an observation
first the observation
your 7700hq has a stp rating of what.. 2000 right? Thats unthrottled..
Have you verified your power plan?
Have you verified your system isn't thermal throttling?
What are the EE, GU, and VU %'s in the title bar say when you're running 50%?
Are you using Hardware or Software rendering?
Are you using any of the speed hacks? If so, which ones?

To fix the texts in certain games like Gran Turismo 4, you need to tweak the clamping mode. Set the EE clamping mode to full. Then try hardware mode. It requires some hacks to render the graphics correctly.
