open your pcsx2 folder and look for cheats folder, open it and here you have to create file called pnach, every game has its own pnach number FFXII (U) pnach is 0779FBDB, thats a CRC number, if u look in console window when u start a game in pcsx2 u will find CRC=0x0779FBDB for FFXII, as i said it changes for every game. You will have to create individual pnach for every game with their specific CRC number. The codes inside the pnach have to be in specific format and properly converted from codebreaker or gameshark or action replay format heres detailed tuttorial http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-redlof-s-...-for-newbs
I already have pnach for FFXII (U) because i played the game on pcsx2 here you just download it and put it into cheats folder, and use // in front of the code to disable it and remove // to enable the code.
heres pnach llink

i never had emulator crash because of pnach codes, the only thing that bad code can do is when you try to load the game it will say save corrupted, but when u disable the code u will be able to load the game, your emu probably crashed do to something else, im using pcsx 0.9.7 r3878 its a bit newer than yours, you should download latest available beta, and posting your detailed pc specs would help too.

come to think of it i have seen someone else in this forum while back having some problem with his emu, i don't remember the issue but i remember he was using r3876 modded, i dont even know what modded is when it comes to pcsx2 and i asked him, but he didnt know, i think he solved his issue by downloading newest beta, so you should definitely get newer version from official pcsx2 site, and dont download something that says modded. I haven't tested any recent betas except r3878 and it works for me perfectly, ive tested like 7 games and they all run without crashing.

The newest beta is the r3876m with LilyPad r3878 (so beta r3878), the "modded" part is that the build was PGO optimized for a little more speed, doesn't change functionality.

ok thanks for explanation, but why is it named r3876 modded ? why not just name it r3879. its confusing when when people look for newest beta and see 3878 and 3876 modded, most would think 3878 is more recent.

It's the way the build names itself, they could have changed it and I think it was planned after the last beta (r3113 vs 3117... was actually r3119 taking in count the installer...) had the same confusion but at least there hasn't been many people asking about it this time Tongue
