I don't understand what you mean, the recommendation was to set Windows to NOT hide the file extension since you told you read PCSX2_version instead PCSX2_version.exe.
If you don't do it you might be reading the file as named CRC.pnach when it is being named CRC.pnach.txt, where you can't see the .txt part but is enough to PCSX2 not finding a pnach file since there is none in fact.
