internal res question

I'd guess because most people have good enough hardware to get better-than-native results, but still aiming it low enough for those without really good cards -shrugs- That'd be my guess anyways.

it could also be because a lot of people leave their graphics at their defaults, and this is a way to show new people right away how much prettier games can be on pcsx2 versus a real PS2 (or PS2 games on PS3)

Would it make much difference if it were default 512x512? Or 1280x1280?

Just an arbitrary value, default for the sake of having a default.

And also a high vertical resolution makes stuff look a lot cleaner. Vertical resolutions higher than what typical resolutions are great for keeping stuff looking sharp far in the distance.

Anyway, everyone should keep in mind basic geometry when you are entering in internal resolutions.

Doubling both sides of a rectangle results in 4 times the size, etc etc.
